Research & Knowledge Production

At Naija Times Journalism Foundation, we believe that impactful journalism must be grounded in rigorous research and evidence-based knowledge. In a rapidly changing media and governance landscape, intuition and instinct are no longer enough — the Press must be armed with data, context and deep insight to fulfil its democratic mandate.

Our approach to Research & Knowledge Production is driven by the conviction that only a knowledge-led media can meaningfully hold power to account, shape public discourse and drive inclusive development.

We generate, curate and disseminate research that explores the evolving role of journalism in democratic societies — from press freedom and misinformation, to media literacy, public trust, and the intersection of journalism with governance and development.

Through surveys, reports, policy briefs and strategic analysis, we provide journalists, media managers and civic actors with the intellectual tools they need to better navigate complex issues. Our research shines a light on coverage gaps, highlights underreported stories, and supports evidence-informed storytelling that is ethical, inclusive and solutions-oriented.

More than just producing information, we are building a body of knowledge that empowers the media to innovate, adapt and serve the public interest more effectively.

In this way, Research & Knowledge Production is not a background activity — it is central to our mission to strengthen journalism, accountability and democracy in Nigeria, across Africa, and throughout the global Black diaspora.
