We recognise that public interest journalism thrives best in an environment where legal protections, institutional frameworks and press freedom are not just guaranteed but actively upheld. That’s why we work to influence the policies, regulations and systems that shape how journalism is practised — and protected.
Our advocacy is both strategic and evidence-based, engaging with policymakers, regulatory bodies, media owners and civil society groups to promote reforms that support independent journalism. From pushing for greater access to information laws, to defending the rights of journalists under threat, our interventions aim to ensure the media can operate without fear or favour.
We also advocate for digital rights, the protection of civic space, and inclusive media policies that reflect the realities of today’s multi-platform, multi-voice information age.
Through research-led dialogue, policy roundtables, public campaigns and stakeholder engagements, Naija Times Journalism Foundation is shaping the national conversation around media regulation, transparency, and accountability.
For us, advocacy isn’t just about defending journalism — it’s about securing its future as a cornerstone of democracy, a watchdog of power, and a voice for the people.
