Mrs. Oluwakemi Braimah is a woman whose life story is steeped in purpose, compassion, and enduring achievement. A graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos, she charted a unique academic path that later led her to Canada.
Enrolling in the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies at Sheridan College, Brampton, Ontario, she gained invaluable exposure that broadened her worldview and strengthened her resolve to serve humanity in meaningful ways.
In 2010, she expanded her leadership capacity by completing a certification in management and leadership from the prestigious Jack Welch Management Programme in the United States, renowned for shaping transformational leaders and global business thinkers.
Professionally, Mrs Braimah’s journey is both rich and diverse. While her business interests span hospitality, fashion, leisure, travel, tourism, and social support services, each endeavour reflects her entrepreneurial spirit, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to impact. Her success in business has not detached her from the realities of those in need.
Instead, it has become a platform through which she uplifts others—particularly widows, the elderly, and vulnerable groups—offering support that is consistent, heartfelt, and legendary. Generosity for her is not seasonal; it is a lifestyle, a personal ministry of service, and restoration.
Equally, her career is defined by activism and social justice. Oluwakemi is a tireless advocate for women’s rights and gender inclusion, championing equity with clarity and quiet strength. Her approach is intentional, fuelled by the belief that every human being deserves dignity and opportunity. Whether speaking up for the oppressed or creating safe spaces for the marginalised, she embodies advocacy that is both impactful and empathetic.
On the humanitarian front, her compassion extends to global missions. She has volunteered with the Ontario Association of Support Workers and the Red Cross in Canada, where her efforts have touched lives through community service and civic engagement. She has also supported international students by leading guided tours and orientation programmes, easing their transition into Canadian society and helping them access critical resources.
In recognition of her outstanding service and perseverance, she received the Holly Jean Award for Excellence from Home Instead and the Resilience Award for a Newcomer in Canada from Sheridan College.
Mrs Braimah’s skill as a caregiver is unmatched. She brings excellence to roles involving companionship, hospice, palliative care, and gentle persuasive approaches—all focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, improving wellness, and fostering emotional resilience in those she serves. Her compassion is not performative; it is deeply rooted in her character and lived daily in acts of quiet heroism.
At home, she is a devoted wife and mother. Her marriage to Ehi Braimah, the well-known journalist and publisher, is not only a partnership of love but one of mutual support and shared purpose. She has stood steadfast beside him through key milestones, including the launch of his book My Lockdown Diary, offering strength and encouragement that have been pivotal in his journey.
Despite the many hats she wears, Mrs Braimah’s hope for Nigeria remains vibrant. She believes deeply in the potential of her country, confident in the richness of its human and natural resources. To her, Nigeria is not a nation bound by its challenges, but one brimming with hope and opportunities for innovation, growth, and transformation if nurtured with strategic vision, exemplary service, and inclusive action.
At the core of all she does, Mrs Oluwakemi Braimah is a portrait of grace, strength, and humanity. Her life reminds us that leadership is not merely about position, but about purpose lived through action; that kindness is a currency whose value never diminishes; and that a life of impact is not built on acclaim, but on a quiet, resolute commitment to making the world a better place — one person at a time.
